Senapathy “Kris” Gopalakrishnan was born in 1955 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, into a middle-class Tamil family with strong academic values. His early education took place in Chennai, where he attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan before enrolling at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He held several leadership positions, culminating in his tenure as CEO and Managing Director from 2007 to 2011.
